Of course you’re looking for cheap auto insurance – that’s a given. Getting the best insurance rates possible depends on so many different factors that come into play when you’re researching and getting quotes for coverage. It should come as no surprise that one major factor is the car you drive – the make and model and its likelihood of being involved in an auto insurance claim. One very common claim that can play a role in how rates are set is having your car stolen. If it’s more likely to be the target of vehicle theft, it’s likely to have higher costs for coverage than its less appealing counter parts.

Top 10 stolen vehicles in Ontario 2022 update

Équité Association (a national organization whose mandate is to reduce and prevent insurance fraud and crime) has just released their lists for the top 10 stolen vehicles across Canada (check out their press release here). Here is their list for Ontario:

#1 – Lexus RX Series 2016-2021 (Type: SUV)

#2 – Honda CR-V 2016-2021 (Type: SUV)

#3 – Ford F150 Series 2015-2020 (Type: Pick-up)

#4 – Toyota Highlander Series 2013-2019 (Type: SUV)

#5 – Honda Civic 2016-2021 (Type: Car)

#6 – Land Rover Range Rover Sport 2015-2021 (Type: SUV)

#7 – Honda Accord 2018-2021 (Type: Car)

#8 – Chevrolet/GMC Silverado/Sierra 1500 Series 1999-2006 (Type: Pick-up)

#9 – RAM 1500 Series 2009-2018 (Type: Pick-up)

#10 – Toyota Tacoma 2016-2021 (Type: Pick-up)
